1.注意下面第一句里用any而不用some，第二句里用any或some都可以：
I have not got any（不用some）butter.
If you have got any（或some）butter，will you please lend me a little?
注意下面每组里的第二句的含意：
Can I have any butter?
CanIhave some butter?(含有“我大约可以有一些”的意思)
Will you lend me any butter?
Will you lend me some butter?(含有“你大约肯借我一些”的意思)
Will you have any butter?
Will you have some butter?(含有“你大约要一些”的意思)
Has he not any friends here?
Has he not some friends here?(含有“他大约有几个”的意思)
注意下面每组里的各句意思不同：
He is taller than any of his brother.(他比他的任何兄弟都高。)
He is taller than some of his brothers.(他比他的兄弟中的几个[兄弟]高。)
Any boy(任何男孩)will tell you that.
Some boy(某一个男孩)will tell you that.
Some boys(若千男孩)will tell you that.

2.下面各种表达方式都可以说：
some books, some such books, some of the books, some of thesebooks, some of those books, some of his books
但不可说some of books或some of such books。
3.下面各句里的some作“很好的”、“很大的”等解，原来是美国用法，在英国多少有些口语性质。
I call that some picture.
We had some narrow escape.
That was some war.
This is some storm.
4.下面各句里的some作somewhat解，原来是美国用法，在英国是俚语。
She is some better today.
We must both work some and play some.
I hope they will help matters some.
The sea went down some during the night.

8.some reason or other，some way or other，some man or other，some time or other等表达方式里的other改作another也可以，但不及用other普通。
